Why Home-Start support is important When life hits a parent hard, the shock reaches the child. Poverty, mental illness, grief and family breakdown all leave a mark on the smallest family members. How deeply those marks are felt depends on the love, support and connection that surrounds them. We walk alongside families through their darkest moments, helping them overcome their struggles and build nurturing loving homes for their children. Sam was supported by Home-Start volunteer Marie. After having her daughter Molly she was experiencing post natal Psychosis. "Marie was like an angel. She was a friend when my mum felt lonely and thought there was no one.
