Home-Start Co-CEO's Jodie Reed and Natalie Acton welcome the Government's new Child Poverty Strategy. This is what they said:

We welcome the Government's new Child Poverty Strategy which is an important step forward in recognising the scale and urgency of the challenges facing families across the UK.

The commitments set out today - including actions to lift half a million children out of poverty by 2030 -  acknowledge what Home-Starts see every day when supporting families in homes and local communities: that rising costs, insecure income and housing, and widening inequality are harming children's life chances from the very start.

We are encouraged by the government's aim to go beyond putting money in families' pockets now and to harness the full potential of voluntary and community organisations to provide the trusted, skilled support that enables families to thrive.

We and local Home-Starts across the country stand ready to work with Government - and local government - to ensure families have the support they urgently need, and will not stop until all children have access to the health, opportunity and security that they deserve.
